Wedding Photography

Andrea and Sandro, originally uploaded by Franzli.
Just to be clear, when I first started my photographic experience with an SLR and later with a DSLR I would have never thought of reaching the point of shooting a wedding.
Shooting a wedding is not an easy thing to do. You have to be prepared days in advance, know the places, know the timings, know the bride and groom (B&G). And it doesn't finish there, after you have shot for a full day around 1200 pictures, you have to sort out which ones are going to be a keeper and have a deep dive in post processing for about a week.

The wedding is a moment in time, you can't repeat it, you shoot that moment or you have lost it forever.

Andrea and Sandro are my first experience in this magic world. I asked Sandro to shoot a pre-wedding session to create a feeling between myself and them and understand how they react in front of the camera.

From this first experience I can give some suggestions:
1. If you have never done it, don't do it. If you don't know what you are doing you may screw it up.
2. Have a backup, this includes a camera, lenses, flashes, batteries, memories and even a person that can help you in the setup of the various shots.
3. Have a script, know exactly what will happen and when.
4. Get in touch with somebody that knows everybody, this will be handy in the moment you will have to shoot formals.
5. Be there, you can't leave for lunch and miss important moments.
6. Never shoot at a friend or a family member's wedding, it may jeopardize your relationship with them.

From what I have heard from the B&G, I haven't done a bad job for the first time and they are quite happy about the results.

So long,
F.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, originally uploaded by Franzli.
Another night shot, also in the center of Milano. I like this shot because it's decentrated and fits perfectly the frame. This image doesn't have any postprocessing. It's as it comes out of the camera.

Arti e mestieri

Arti e mestieri

Arti e mestieri, originally uploaded by Franzli.
I don't know how sometimes I find myself in certain contexts/situations and I am able to take this kind of shots.
Anyway, it was late, 10:00pm and the light was just perfect. I also took a detail of the guy, but I love so much the colors and the lights of this one.
Congratulations to myself! :-)

Mollette

Mollette, originally uploaded by Franzli.

Simplicity is.....
I was in Indemini (CH) and I loved the idea of these 3 things hanging with a lovely blurred background. Judge yourself!

Acqua

Acqua, originally uploaded by Franzli.

For the latest Show And Tell Wednesday (SATW) we had an assignment about Water. This was my idea. Technically there's nothing so complicated, but the magic of the ambient light creating colored reflections on the glass made it pop out...

La Valle Verzasca

La Valle Verzasca, originally uploaded by Franzli.

Maybe I should have used a smaller aperture to maximize the details but this shot was taken hand-hold with a couple of goats behind my back, so probably it's enough how it came out :-)

Roses

Roses, originally uploaded by Franzli.

I liked these roses because they created a nice triangular composition.

Gabbiano in volo
Gabbiani

Non so dove i gabbiani abbiano il nido,
ove trovino pace.
Io son come loro
in perpetuo volo.
La vita la sfioro
com’essi l’acqua ad acciuffare il cibo.
E come forse anch’essi amo la quiete,
la gran quiete marina,
ma il mio destino รจ vivere
balenando in burrasca.

Linda e Enrico

These are my friends Linda and Enrico. We shot this during a birthday party. It seems that Linda is interested in me taking more pictures about them. Engagement photo session? :-)

View from Burgenstock

View from Burgenstock, originally uploaded by Franzli.

I have taken this in August 2008 during one of my walks on the Burgenstock in Kt.Nidwalden.

Somebody told me it's too blue, but I really like the effect given by the polarizer.

Blogging here and there...

I have decided to start this blog to show my best photo shots.
I hope you like the idea!
Now have a beer and relax...
